Welcome Letter

Welcome to 4th Grade!

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome to an exciting year in 4th grade! I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher and look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and new experiences. Fourth grade is a pivotal time when students develop greater independence, strengthen critical thinking skills, and take on new academic challenges.

What to Expect in 4th Grade

This year, students will expand their knowledge and build important skills across all subject areas. Here’s what they’ll be working on:

  • Reading and Writing – Analyzing texts, expanding vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, and writing structured essays, narratives, and reports.
  • Math – Mastering multiplication and division, working with fractions and decimals, solving multi-step word problems, and developing problem-solving strategies.
  • Science – Exploring topics like energy, ecosystems, the water cycle, and scientific inquiry through hands-on experiments and investigations.
  • Social Studies – Learning about geography, government, and important historical events and figures.
  • Social and Emotional Growth – Developing responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  •

Classroom Expectations

In 4th grade, students are expected to take more ownership of their learning and behavior. We will focus on:

  • Being respectful to classmates, teachers, and our learning environment.
  • Being responsible for completing assignments, following directions, and staying organized.
  • Being ready to learn by coming to school prepared, with a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
