Welcome to 2nd Grade!

 

Dear Families,

Welcome to an exciting new school year in 2nd grade! I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher and look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and fun. Our classroom is a place where curiosity is encouraged, kindness is celebrated, and every student is valued.

 

What to Expect in 2nd Grade

This year, your child will build on their foundational skills while exploring new concepts in a supportive and engaging environment. Here are some of the key areas we will focus on:

📖 Reading & Writing – Students will develop stronger reading comprehension skills, learn to express their thoughts through writing, and explore a variety of books.
🔢 Math – We will work on addition and subtraction fluency, understanding place value, solving word problems, and beginning multiplication concepts.
🌎 Science & Social Studies – Students will explore life cycles, weather patterns, communities, and historical figures who have shaped our world.
🗣️ Social & Emotional Learning – We will practice kindness, teamwork, and problem-solving to build a strong and supportive classroom community.

 

Classroom Expectations

To ensure a successful year, we follow a few simple expectations:
